While that amp is famous for being crystal clean in real life, I've found that with just the compressor and working the gain knob and gain mode on the IR-200, it can do an excellent gritty "boutique" amp sound. The JC-120 is a great sound, but I've also always found it to be spiky in the mids, uncompressed and, occasionally unforgiving.

The amp is a one-channel amp, but it has a channel volume/gain, and a master volume. You can dime out the channel volume and it'll break up pretty nicely, giving you saturated tube distortion. With this amp, anything above classic rock, blues, etc range and you'll need something to push it harder.
