Detroit 60 series starting problems.

Alright, this either could be a problem with the Jake brakes or a EGR solenoid/wiring problem. A problem in the EGR system can definatly cause power loss under a load. Your truck being a 2002, check to see if you have an EGR valve. It would be located under the turbo near the block bolted onto the EGR cooler.Here is my problem I have a 12.7 detroit 60 series and it seems like it just doesn't have any power. The turbo whistle is very faint. I have a little bit of black smoke out of pipe when i accelerate onto the interstate. I had a brand new crate model put in 2008 and they didnt change the turbo.
