Just kinda tighten but then let go. What I was afraid of has finally happened to me. The bolt broke leaving about 1 inch of it inside the hole. The alternator is held on by 3 bolts, one on the top and 2 on the bottom. Use a 12mm socket to remove the 2 bottom mounting bolts from the alternator.
