Weight is not an issue with a good holster and belt set up. Without the right gear, you are going to have carry problems regardless of whether the frame is aluminum alloy or steel. As for caliber, I personally prefer the .45 ACP. With the right mags, the Pro Carry II 9mm is fine; however, it's not for me.

Had to send it in to Kimber for them to fix. Got it back and it still jammed with some federal hydrashok 135g JHPs. Sent it back into Kimber a second time and they polished the feed ramp. Found the only ammo that would work it was Magtech 115g JHPs. The melt package, checkering and night sights are the difference in the CDP that made me choose it over the Ultra Carry. They are worth the addition cost to me. They not be to you. Also, if you like all black and all steel, the Super Carry Ultra HD is another option. Other than that they are very much similar.
