Shilen barrel review.
I've got 2 shilen barrels right now both in a 6mm chambering. I couldn't be happier with the one- but the second was pretty disappointing. It took a lot of work to find a load that it would shoot good and it collected copper like no other barrel I've ever seen.
Jan 5, 2014 · Shilen makes great quality barrels, but not because the rifling style. The performance comes from good quality blanks with sharp tooling, good quality control, so on, so on. The ratchet rifling is marketing. Maybe it makes a difference, but it's not enough of a difference for a mere mortal like myself to notice. Straight Shooter. It's a consistently accurate sub 1/2 MOA rifle to 1000 yds.Had a criterion remage barrel in 243 8tw. On a trued action it shot great, lots of groups in the .2s&.3s. Cleaned up as easy as my barts and kriegers. I pulled the barrel at 2400-2500, it's been 6yrs ago, so kinda fuzzy.
