Anki has a way to fix this--and that's to tag cards. In order to optimize your usage of anki, you need ONE copy of each card, but to have it tagged multiple ways. In order to make this deck work, duplicate cards have to be removed and retagged, that makes this a time consuming deck to correct. 2.An overly complicated Subdeck and sub-subdeck system.

It was overkill because I wasn't actually using Anki properly in the early months. Since then, I kept up with my MilesDown cards after I took the exam (got rid of the 42-day rule and made it 9999). Core 10k is pretty solid. It's okay to rep pre-made JLPT decks a while before you make your own. It's not like you wouldn't ever use words on decks that you yourself have not made. definetly not the best one but i ve been using the "japanese core 2000" for a while and it s not too bad. If you have the $25 iPhone app, make sure Anki is up to date with latest settings. I'd suggest uploading the deck from your computer/laptop. Delete the deck on your iPhone. Make sure you have enough storage space on your phone. Redownload the deck (by downloading from server) making sure that the file fully downloads before exiting the app.

Milesdown is less detailed but it's still decent and not as long as JS. JS also corresponds to the Kaplan books (except P/S, where it's for the 300 KA). Not sure about mile down.
