There's going to be rune versions of items like blank card so the effect isn't being removed, it's just getting a new name. I don't remember where it was said, but it's true. Had a game yesterday where I got jera and the first item I see in the store on the second floor is blank card. I was so happy seeing blank card I almost cried. I now beat greedier with Isaac finally. As long as you pick up the free copy, you should still have a chance of Angel Rooms appearing. Easiest Isaac kill I ever got. Even better with the blank card. But if you're really lucky, habit and the rune of Jera makes it even better. I like the passage rune for the slight chance of generating a Zelda room.
