The M4 is more of an iconic battle proven shotgun but really only has a self defense role in my eyes. The 1301 comp pro can do everything, sporting clays, general range fun and is light and nimble enough to play a self defense role if need be. What I am is anti 1301 vs. M4 comparisons that ignore all of the 1301's substantial deficiencies compared to the M4. All the big name youtubers have done this. I did notice the M4 feels like it has a heavier buffer spring compared to the 1301. I suspect this is the reason the M4 doesn't always cycle soft loads or cheap birdshot as well.
