There are 2 short hoses that are on the driver side engine, one goes from the metal fuel line to the filter and the other line goes to the mech fuel pump on the passenger side.

If you are replacing the hard lines, you can use a flaring tool to put a little bubble flare on the ends of the lines to give a good grip on the rubber hose/clamps. Same with the vapor hard line. I installed a '03 6.0 with mild cam in our '97 TJ. I went with the '05 - '06 TJ fuel pump (RockAuto), converted the 6.0 fuel rail to a return-less rail ('05 GM 2500 - salvage yard) and GenRight tank. The '05 - '06 TJ pump is to be used with a return-less fuel system. Fuel system works excellent.The return line helps bleed off the vapor and return it to the tank, and also allows more fuel to keep passing through the fuel lines to keep cooler fuel present. The fuel return does work in reducing vapor lock. Failing Mechanical Fuel Pump. Have a 89 YJ carbureted. Haven't had very long and I have had to replace 2 mechanical fuel pumps. One of the pumps was actually bent. Appears to be unable to withstand the pressure. So, I dropped the tank and replaced two vents.
