It is more likely that they will read the first and last paragraphs of each sample to ascertain 1) your area of interest, 2) your superficial writing ability, 3) your capacity to frame a philosophical problem in a small space, and other similar things.
You'll also want to contact both departments well in advance of applying. There are lots of other programs that integrate philosophy and psychology. UCSD has a cognitive science interdisciplinary program, and PITTs HPS has a specialization in psychology. NYU and Rutgers are also strong in psych / philosophy. Good luck!Mar 30, 2023 · Hi! They have a program where you can earn an MA in philosophy along with your PhD in religion. Virginia is arguably the best religion department in the country.
I now see that there are a couple faculty working within the continental tradition (and feminist philosophy) at Alberta. Good to know. Frankly, I think it's been consistently under-ranked.
