Nov 12, 2017 · It is a Remington Sportsman 48 from 1950 (barrel code KWW) VR barrel stamped skeet with a polychoke and most unusually, custom engraving on the receiver. On close inspection the name "KUHL" can be found. In googling it appears an Orville Kuhl is a known engraver but little seems to turn up. Any additional information would be appreciated.
Bought a Remington Sportsman 48 (16 gauge) from a guy at work, got it cheap because it wouldn't cycle shells out. I tore it down (pulled the bolt and the trigger) and cleaned it, now it cycles sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure how this shotgun is supposed to work, the barrel seems to float with the action.
