2016 honda pilot valve adjustment.
Unlike other engines this engine does not have self adjusting valves. They have to be manually adjusted every 100-150K miles. Honda recommends 105K but in my experience around 150K is usually fine. It has nothing to do with the VCM problems that cause the piston rings to stick and cause oil fouling of the plugs.

Honda agreed with me that they should have advised me that the oil leak may damage the alternator, therefore they covered the cost for a new alternator (was a few months outside of the 1 year warranty). I did have to pay for the new spool valve. Cost approx $750 Canadian. Part was $230, plus a few hours labour.

It started about 6 months ago and did wonder from where it comes so I adjusted the valves; to no avail, the sound is still there. I then thought perhaps it's a broken valve spring, but no they'r all good.

If your front valve cover gasket is leaking, I would also recommend checking/replacing the PCV valve, which is mounted entirely to the front valve cover. I took it in for the valve adjustment, and I was informed that it had a bad coil pack and 1 cylinder was misfiring and this was the cause of the stall, not the valves being out of whack. There was also a leaking power steering hose and my battery died while in the shop, but I'm pretty sure those are unrelated.
